You might not immediately think of the combination of sweet watermelon and the slightly salty taste of feta, but this salad is wonderfully fresh.
In Greece, watermelon salad is eaten as a snack or light meal. Apart from watermelon and feta, the Greek watermelon salad only needs a paper-thin sliced red onion. Sprinkle the salad with plenty of extra virgin olive oil and it is ready to be served.
The Greek watermelon salad is also a healthy choice for a picnic, because it does not contain lettuce, which can quickly wilt in warm conditions.
American food bloggers in particular try to improve perfection by using Italian balsamic vinegar instead of extra virgin olive oil. Then they do not understand it, because Greek cuisine is all about simplicity and the pure taste of the ingredients.

A pack of real Greek feta, crumbled or diced
Extra virgin olive oil to taste
